For me, domestic interiors serve as a portrait of the person who lives there. Through their objects, decor and room composition, it is possible to build up a picture of them without ever seeing their face.

This series of interiors challenged me to consider places from my own past, places of which there are no photos to refer to, or Google searches that will find them. They are moments in time, recollections of people I’ve known and the feeling of nostalgia it evokes to revisit their surroundings.

Through my paintings I hope to challenge the viewer to use memory to recall scenes of domesticity from their own pasts; to see how clear a memory can be, and how powerful interiors can be in understanding others.
